Aunt Dorothy and her Dilemma

Last Friday while on my way to the restaurant I had a chance meeting with Aunt Dorothy. She was on her way to her sketching classes. She looked a lot fitter than what I had seen her six months back. We decided to spend a while at pizza joint,Danielle's Wood Fired Pizza sharing some light moments. She was one of my dearest aunts and I distinctly remembered my early years at Dallas, TX when she was a constant friend, philosopher and guide, helping me through my most difficult phases. Now after all these years I, busy in my own world, working as a bookseller hardly had the time to meet her.



So, this sudden connection was indeed a bonus. Soon we were exchanging our todays and I felt happy paying attention, listening to the activities of her twelve month old grandson.



Stevie, the sonny, is happy to move around. Sometimes, on his own and at other times forcing others to lift him. Stevie is making an endeavor to talk. Currently, he has an activity center and he loves it. But, of recently Stevie has started disliking staying at the same place and thereby doesn't like staying in the activity center for too much time. He doesn't like new mates and feels at home when with the known faces of his immediate family. All these are making things a bit difficult for my aunt who is one of those known faces.



After coming to know all this I gave her the idea of buying a baby walker.

She was a bit fearful at the outset thinking about the perils. But, I reassured her that if the baby is not left companion less and the area where the walker is to be used is made hazard proof the risks can be minimized. Moreover, I myself have used them for my daughters and they have been of finest help. Hearing this she assured to come to my home a small distance away from her classes.



That evening, both of us sat glued to my laptop looking for the exact walker that would suit the needs of Ron. It had to be safe and built with activity centers that would entertain and amuse the child. Once we were through with our decision we decided to part. I made a promise to visit Aunt Dorothy coming Thursday as soon as she was finished with her purchase. The time spent with her brought back old memories and I decided to visit her more often as I felt it would definitely rejuvenate me after chasing my failing targets and never reaching deadlines .
